The PReview 5531 is a space- and power-saving LCD indicator that is ideal for readout of any 4-20mA current signal and can be scaled directly in process units. Running directly from the current loop signal, the indicator does not need any supplementary power supply, even with its backlight enabled. And with its 16mm-high characters, this means that the four-digit liquid crystal display is easily read under all ambient lighting conditions.
The PReview 5531 is easy to integrate into any process environment. Its compact front panel outline of 48 x 96mm is sealed to IP65, and an ATEX Ex compliant version is available for hazardous environments in zones 0, 1 and 2.
Scaling the display is particularly easy. A single rear DIP switch activates the front panel keys to enable the display to be matched to the required sensor signal, providing an accurate readout in the relevant engineering units. And once the DIP switch is returned to the off position, the front panel keys are deactivated, ensuring that the unit cannot be tampered with or inadvertently altered. Space is provided under the display for an adhesive label to indicate the process units for the current application.
Both the normal and Ex-rated versions of the PReview 5531 are suitable for safety-critical applications. The clear readability of the display is backed up by highly accurate readings, with linearity errors of less than +/-0.1% of span and a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference, guaranteed at no more than +/-0.5% of span. Add to this a wide operating temperature range from -20 to +60C and the ability to work reliably in relative humidity up to 95%, and the PReview 5531 can shine in a wide range of applications (with or without its backlight!).
