Ideal for demanding materials testing applications, among others, the Richmond Industries 700 Series of load cells are high-precision S-beam devices that offer bidirectional force measurement in a compact package.

Standard measurement ranges for the 700 Series range from 0-500N to 0-50kN, and each device has a maximum combined nonlinearity and hysteresis error specification of 0.1% of full-range output.

This accuracy can be exploited in either measurement direction, so that the 700 Series is equally at home with compression testing and tension testing duties. This means that these devices can be used in a whole range of end equipment, from materials testing machines to platform, hopper and tank weighing systems as well as inline weighing duties on conveyors or overhead tracks.

Weighing equipment OEMs can also benefit from the onboard electronic calibration circuitry in each member of the 700 Series. This enables manufacturers and end users to calibrate their weighing equipment in situ, without recourse to physical standard weights.

What’s more, the load cells will retain full calibration even when subjected to an overload of 150%, reducing the downtime required for recalibration. And, should the need arise, the sensors will tolerate 200% overload without physical damage. This robustness extends over a wide operating temperature range from -20 to +70C, enabling the 700 Series load cells to be used in machinery that is expected to undergo climatic extremes when used outdoors. Full temperature compensation is provided as standard from +20 to +70C, and thermal effects on accuracy are minimal outside this range, with sensitivity of 0.005% of full-range output per degree Celsius.

Richmond industries 700 Series load cells are particularly compact – even the 50kN capacity device measures just 100 x 30 x 120mm – with easy mounting using standard threads and a generous 2m-long captive cable, making these devices a natural choice for any bidirectional force testing application.
