With its continuing quest for improved performance and efficiency, the motorsports industry requires pressure sensors that combine exceptional measurement accuracy with the ability to operate in one of the harshest possible environments. The A09-Auto pressure transmitter has been developed specifically to answer these demands.

Featuring a wide operating temperature range from -25 to +85C and withstanding the levels of shock and vibration typical of extreme automotive environments, such as rally and touring cars, the A09-Auto is also designed to withstand automotive levels of electromagnetic interference while still maintaining its full performance. This resilience comes from an all-stainless-steel assembly protected by a hermetically sealed housing, which is gas filled to avoid condensation in fluctuating temperatures.

Available with a choice of pressure ranges up to 170bar, the sensor in the A09-Auto is based on the latest thin-film technology from STW, which guarantees a high level of accuracy, with a maximum linearity error of 0.2% and hysteresis and repeatability at better than 0.1%.

The A09-Auto pressure transmitter is also well protected against hydraulic system overpressure; it will tolerate twice rated pressure with no damage at all, and can handle five-times its rating before there is any risk of bursting. This makes it a serious contender for any safety-critical automotive systems where pressure needs to be monitored with the utmost reliability.

The transmitter is designed for ease of integration with automotive electrical systems. It will run from a wide supply voltage range of 8-20V DC, and produces a high-level voltage output from 0.5 to 4.5V DC, reducing signal conditioning requirements when interfacing with onboard instrumentation.

All these features combine to make the A09-Auto pressure transmitter a winner in motorsports applications and in other less demanding automotive hydraulic systems.
