The Micronor ESF58 is a highly reliable and versatile single-turn absolute encoder that combines the benefits of an onboard CANopen interface with the ability to operate at rotational speeds up to 9000rev/min.
Capable of withstanding high levels of vibration, and protected by a rugged die-cast zinc housing that is sealed to IP67, the ESF58 is designed as a fit-and-forget rotational measurement device for machine builders in a range of industries. Even the seal between the stainless-steel shaft and the housing is rated at IP65, and this can optionally be specified as IP67. Applications versatility is further enhanced with an extra-wide operating temperature range of -40 to +80C as standard.
Offering the widest possible range of options in interfacing, the ESF58 encoder supports the latest CANopen communications profile as defined in DS301 V4.02, as well as supporting device-specific profiles such as DS406 V3.1.
This provides the option of operating in polled mode, cyclic mode, sync mode and a high-resolution sync mode. Parameters such as scale factors, preset values and limit switch values can all be programmed via the CANbus. Programmed values are all stored in onboard EEPROM and reloaded to the device at power up, which also enables the ESF58 to recover into working mode from any unforeseen system power failure.
A wide choice of mounting options is available, together with several options for electrical connection. In all cases, the encoder is protected against physical shock (greater than 2500m/s2), vibration (at least 100m/s2 up to 2kHz), magnetic fields, short circuits and reverse polarity connection.
All these benefits combine to provide a versatile device that is easy to install and interface, provides long service life and enhances the reliability of any machinery into which it is designed.
