When vehicle-mounted systems need both a powerful controller and an attractive user interface, then the MCP6 Series from Graf-Syteco is the perfect solution.

This dual-processor operator panel has a 10.4in VGA TFT liquid crystal display with 16 fully programmable function keys, and bristles with interfaces, including two CANbus channels, two USB 2.0 lines, two UARTs for conventional serial communications and no fewer than four video inputs. Add in eight digital inputs and two PWM-capable outputs and the MCP6 Series panel can take charge of multiple vehicle-based systems in one stylish package.

The panel comes with substantial processing power for real-time control applications. A general purpose AMD 32bit microprocessor provides heavyweight number-crunching capabilities, and a 16bit Fujitsu microcontroller supervises all interfaces so that the main processor is always available for critical operations. The processors are backed up by 64Mbyte of double-datarate SRAM, 16Mbyte of Flash memory and a further 512Kbyte of battery-backed SRAM. Further removable memory can be added via the unit’s USB interfaces.

The MCP6 Series display features a high brightness (450cd/m2) and high contrast (600:1) TFT LCD with a 210 x 156mm viewing area and full VGA resolution. Editor software enables full graphical programming of the display functions, together with the functions of the 16 pushbuttons arranged around the display and two further rotary potentiometers, each with additional pushbutton functionality.

Designed for easy integration into a vehicle dashboard, the MCP6 requires a 320 x 244mm cutout, with 96mm behind the panel, including connectors. Power can come from any DC supply in the range 9 to 36V, making it suitable for integration with all common vehicular power systems.

A front panel that is ingress protected to IP65 and an operating temperature range from -15 to +60C enable the MCP6 Series survive in the commercial vehicle environment, and the unit is fully CE compliant for shock, vibration, safety and electromagnetic compatibility.
